Apple is forced by the EU to stop ripping off its customers with the unique lightening charger and change the devices to the standard and efficient USB-C

Apple is making billions of dollars from monopolizing the charging system of their devices. Using standard USBC chargers will allow Apple users to buy chargers and cables that are much faster for charging, way cheaper than the rip-off prices that Apple charges, and to use one type of charger for all types of devices they have at home.
Apple consistently refused to use standard chargers for their devices. They claim that this will reduce innovation, however, we never saw any innovation from lightening since it has been in use. On the other hand, we saw lots of innovation from the USB based systems.

In other words, Apple’s excuses are further evidence that when someone tells you it’s not about the money, it’s about the principle, you can be sure it’s about the money.
